Written Summary:
I read once that Bruce
Lee referred to his art as " scientific streetfighting ". While I don't
really know if Bruce said that, I can truthfully say that this tape by Mr. Kent looks
like " scientific streetfighting " to me. This overall theme of this tape
is counterattacking and defensive skills. Sounds like easy stuff, right ? Wrong.
Mr. Kent breaks down counterattacking and defensive skills into their component parts
and explains, in great detail, how to train and improve one's overall defensive skill.
There is a lot of good information here, particularly in the area of new drills for
the viewer to learn. Mr. Kent also points out the common errors that are often made
by many people, especially beginners who don't have a lot of experience at sparring.
Although
this tape is somewhat " intellectual " ( for lack of a better word ), I
liked most of it. To obtain maximum results from this video, it must be watched over
and over again because Mr. Kent assumes you know how to use the rewind button. He
does not repeat himself and is able to cover a great deal of material in relatively
short period of time. There is no wasted time on this tape.
I believe this
tape is most useful to the student who does a lot of sparring. All of the information
in the tape can be used immediately if you do a lot of contact sparring. That said
however, the content can be applied to any type of stand up fighting as well. All
in all, this is a very good tape.
