The need to buy additional tapes to understand this one:
Volume 1 in this series would be most helpful.
Written Summary:
This tape is a continuation
of the previous tape in the series. Mr. Lala states that the purpose of this volume
is to show more advanced low line kicking techniques and how to integrate low kicks
with other techniques. The video does a good job of accomplishing that goal.
In
the first segment, we see Mr. Lala break a baseball bat with his shin on three separate
occasions. Very, very, impressive. We are also treated to a horrific real time accident
as one of Mr. Lala's students receives a dislocated knee as a result of a well timed
low kick, thrown with what appears to be minimal power.
The next segment shows
Mr. Lala instructing a class and teaching various drills to his students to accomplish
the integration of low line kicking and hand techniques. There are some great drills
here that train endurance, high-low technique integration, and rapid fire low line
kicking. There are several very good drills on this tape for conditioning the body
to take low kicks to the legs and all involve the use of a training partner. There
is another excellent drill that involves ¾ speed sparring but is done in such manner
that some degree of safety is maintained. There are some nice little tidbits such
as Mr. Lala's modified shin kick for close in fighting and several good segments
on knee strikes as well. The tape closes with groundfighting applications of low
kicks. I was impressed with the caliber of Mr. Lala's students, which reflects well
on his ability to instruct. This tape, along with Volume 1, would make a good reference
tape for any instructor or martial arts student on the subject of low kicking and
knee attacks.
