Written Summary:

I live in New York and here we have every top martial artist and style represented. There is some Gracie you can go too or Kali or Muay Thai Champ. Why don’t we have a Rich Dimitri satellite out here. His knife tape is about how to deal with one of the most dangerous knife attacks, the rear hand stabbing motion with the off hand holding someone by the collar. Another wards a real bulldog attack. I have done plenty of Kali and the good stuff with realistic stickfiighting, ala Dog Brothers full contact. I will admit there is far too realism in stopping a committed knife attack. Technique goes flying out the window when it’s on. This is where Mr. Dimitri excels. He and his students go full out and try to see what they can do when it hits the fan. Training this way is really the only way. The irony is nobody really trains like this. I have described Mr. Dimitri in past reviews as the Henry Rollins of martial arts combatives. So he won’t win any best cinematography awards, so what. He is always engaging and shows you the real deal. The one thing I get from his DVDs is you don’t need to bow down to some high ranking sensei, just get a few like minded buddies and go for it. You will hands down be better at handling a real fight then spending years trying to learn tons of techniques that will go out the window when reality rears its ugly head. This tape is a must to see what you are really missing.
