Written Summary:
This tape is another
masterpiece from Tony Blauer. This is a training tape that applies scientific principles
to defending against street attacks. And along with it, comes an excellent guide/manual
for free. Tony Blauer introduces a host of concepts including the overkill mentality,
isolation drills, specificity training, sequencing, and the correct use of one's
muscle memory. As is always the case with Mr. Blauer, he really breaks things down
in a logical order and forces the viewer to think about what would really work for
him in a street fight. Mr. Blauer's methods are readily adaptable to any style or
system and I believe that any martial artist could and should use this type of approach
to developing one's personal arsenal. Mr. Blauer shows a myriad of specialized drills
that I believe any instructor should know and be able to teach to their students.
My
only criticism of the tape is that there is a lot of footage of Mr Blauer boxing
and kickboxing with various students. Personally, I liked the footage because I like
to watch sparring but I could see where some people might find this a bit redundant.
But the sparring matches were very good, and for those with a trained eye, Mr. Blauer
shows quite a few clever tricks while in the ring.
This tape is excellent
overall. I highly recommend this tape to martial artists of all styles and systems.
I recommend this tape especially for instructors because of the large amount of drills
that Mr. Blauer has to offer.
