Written Summary:
This is
one of Tony Blauer's older videos but the material is still relevant and very useful
for training oneself to defend against an attacker who is using a knife. This tape
is not a tape with numerous self defense techniques against a knife but is a program
for helping the individual learn to improvise and react spontaneously when attacked
by a knife. I totally agree with Mr. Blauer's assertion that to simply learn techniques
by themselves causes a person to panic when " life doesn't go according to plan
" during a knife attack.
This tape is a logical progression of drills
that are given to the viewer in the order that they are to be learned and practiced.
Mr. Blauer, as always, gives good narrative instruction while the various drills
are being demonstrated. There is a ton of good information on this video. In fact,
it is one of my top three personal favorite videos on defending against knife attacks.
Mr.
Blauer and others have convinced me that the way to learn to defend against knife
attacks is not by memorizing technique, but by learning spontaneous movement, sensitivity,
good footwork, fear control, and being aware of the predator/prey psychology that
exists in such confrontations. If you had only this tape to learn to deal with knife
attacks, it would certainly be an excellent one to have as a reference.
